USCIS Enhances Capabilities to Verify U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Status

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has made enhancements to the Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements (SAVE) program to ensure a single, reliable source for verifying immigration status and U.S. citizenship. These enhancements support Executive Order (EO) 14248, Preserving and Protecting the Integrity of American Elections, and are currently available to all registered users.
What You Need to Know
- All registered users (including state and local government agencies) can now create cases in SAVE using an applicant’s Social Security number (SSN), along with a name and date of birth. The ability to create a case in SAVE with an SSN allows USCIS in some cases to provide U.S. citizenship information for an individual born in the United States, where previously SAVE only responded to inquiries regarding immigration status and naturalized or acquired U.S. citizenship.
- SAVE users can now create cases in bulk by uploading a SAVE template into the system with information that includes an individual’s first and last name, date of birth, and one or more of the following enumerators: Alien Registration Number or USCIS number, citizenship or naturalization certificate number, or SSN. All information must be provided to prevent delays. For more information, see the SAVE Bulk Upload Tool Instructional Guide.
Note: SAVE users are prohibited from creating SAVE cases for any reason other than verifying benefits or licenses as provided in the user agency’s SAVE Memorandum of Agreement.
USCIS will continue to roll out enhancements to SAVE to provide a reliable source for verifying immigration status and U.S. citizenship in compliance with EO 14248.
